Fly to Undara to see everything in a day, and to save time! To travel to Undara by road can take over four hours in each direction, so why not fly there and back to get a better view of the tubes from above, and to get there and back a lot faster!
Departs: Daily from Cairns at around 7.00am, subect to minimum numbers and availability. Returns to Cairns by around 3pm.
How to Book: A 10% deposit is required at the time of booking. The balance is payable no later than 30 days prior to the travel date. Bookings made within four weeks of the travel date must be paid in full within 72 hours. The minimum number of people per trip required for the trip to run is 2. The maximum number is 9. Tour Information/ Basic Itinerary:
Fly over Copperlode and Tinaroo Dams, Atherton and the Tableland to the lava country and Undara. You are met by a guide at the airport and taken on a conducted tour of the fascinating lava tubes.
These tubes were formed 190,000 years ago when the outer surface of molten lava solidified leaving these unusual tunnel-like formations The lava tubes are set high in the savannah with its wide variety of bush life, lakes, craters and vast cattle properties.
For lunch you return to the Lava Lodge and its historical railway carriages for their famous buffet lunch.
After lunch we fly over the upper reaches of the Tully River, lnnisfail and the canefields on the return to Cairns. Bring walking shoes, sun hat and camera.
