There are a range of reef options available however if you only experience the reef once you will want to see it at it’s best. While Sand Cays and Islands offer a reef experience of sorts, Outer Reef locations such as Marine World are chosen by those wanting superior coral quality, colour and overall diversity of reef life.  Located further off-shore away from coastal rivers and streams, Outer Reef locations are found in clean coral sea water with higher coral densities and less sediment (sand) resulting in maximum water clarity in all weather conditions.

The Marine World platform has a spacious lower deck, with ample undercover seating, large easy access snorkel decks, Underwater Reef Viewing Observatory and children’s safety swimming enclosure.

Departure Dates: This Cairns Reef Cruise departs EVERYDAY from the Cairns Marina at 9.00am. Returns to Cairns at 5.00pm.

The ultimate in comfort, Marine World includes a spacious upper sundeck with sun lounges (including shaded areas for summer), and constant access to fresh water showers & change rooms. Refreshments & a licensed bar are available on the air-conditioned vessel. Morning and afternoon tea plus an extensive hot/cold buffet lunch is also included in the day.

Reef life located within just metres of the platform makes Marine World suitable for all age groups and swimming abilities from the novice snorkeller to the most discerning diver. Water activities include unlimited Snorkelling, Guided Marine Snorkel Tours, plus world class Introductory, Certified diving and Helmet Diving (a 10 minute undersea experience where you walk along an underwater platform).

For the non-swimmer, join an Interactive Semi-Submarine AND Glass bottom boat coral/fish viewing tour, visit the Underwater Observatory, climb aboard a reef-scenic Helicopter flight (optional extra cost), or listen to our Marine Naturalist introduce a range of colourful fish species during our lunch-time fish feeding demonstration.

Is there shelter and shade at the reef?

At Marine World yes, many others places no. The Marine World main deck has a canopy cover and roll-down sides to protect from wind or rain and provides welcome relief from the tropical sun in summer. Marine World also has a spacious sundeck with shaded lounge areas. You may return to the air-conditioned vessel at any time throughout the day.

Is the trip suitable for children and babies?

Yes, it is suitable for all ages – including families with children and babies. Adult supervision is required at all times for children under 16 years of age. Floatation devices such as buoyancy vests and noodles are available. Snorkelling equipment, wetsuits and Lycra suits are also available in children’s sizes. The pontoon features an infants swimming enclosure.

What is not included:

Regarding Scuba Diving:
Some medical conditions will prevent you from diving. Some of the more common conditions are Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Pregnancy and heart or lung conditions. Some other medical conditions may also be a problem. If you are unsure about any specific condition please contact us.
