More Information About the Tour:

The minimum number of people per trip required for the trip to run is 10. (Of course you can book with as few as one person - you will be matched up with other people) The maximum number is 25 however these are among the most modern and comfortable 4WD tour vehicles available  featuring on-board toilets, TV/ DVD, road cam and all forward facing, reclineable seats.

DAY 1 CAIRNS – COOKTOWN (LD)

After an early morning pick up from your accommodation your adventure begins. Traveling north along the scenic Captain Cook Highway, through the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. Then making our way along the jungle shrouded Bloomfield Track, stopping off at the unique Lion’s Den Hotel, and the mysterious Black Mountain, arriving at the old gold port of Cooktown. Visit Captain Cooks Landing and Grassy Hill Lookout. Overnight accommodation at Sovereign Resort in Cooktown – ensuite facilities.

DAY 2 COOKTOWN - LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK - MUSGRAVE (BLD)

Heading west into the outback, we travel over the legendary Battle Camp Range to the Old Laura Homestead and Lakefield National Park (road conditions permitted). An amalgamation of 3 huge cattle stations, now a haven for the many birds and animals native to this area. Lagoons, billabongs, and wide river lakes are home to both fresh and saltwater crocodiles. The afternoon finds us arriving at our overnight stop at the old Musgrave telegraph station. (Accommodation with share facilities)

DAY 3 MUSGRAVE - COEN – ARCHER RIVER – WEIPA (BLD)

After a leisurely morning, we continue north stopping off at the historic frontier gold town of Coen and the picturesque Archer River, before making our way to the bauxite-mining town of Weipa. Enjoy the spectacular sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria. Our accommodation tonight is at the Heritage Resort – ensuite facilities.

DAY 4 WEIPA - WENLOCK RIVER – BRAMWELL STATION (BD)

This morning you may wish to take an informative tour of the Weipa mining operation (own expense) or just relax by the pool. After lunch, we head for our overnight stay at a true blue Aussie cattle station, Bramwell Station - ensuite. 

DAY 5 BRAMWELL – FRUIT BAT FALLS – CAPE YORK (BLD)

After an early start, we head north travelling along part of the Old Telegraph Track to arrive at Fruit Bat Falls for lunch. Relax, swim, and enjoy this unique area with its enchanting waterfall. Then northwards across the Jardine River, to arrive at Cape York! We will be staying at Seisia. Seisia is ideally located for our next few days, being in walking distance from the Seisia Wharf, the departure point for the ferry to Thursday Island and a famous fishing spot. The  accommodation at Seisia Holiday Park tonight are cottages with ensuite facilities.

DAY 6 CAPE YORK - SOMERSET  (BLD)

An unforgettable day! Stand at the very top of mainland Australia. We then visit Somerset (road conditions permitted), once the home of the legendary Jardine family and lunch on palm fringed Anchorage Beach which overlooks the Albany Passage. A walk on the beach completes your day before returning to Seisia. The  accommodation at Seisia Holiday Park tonight are cottages with ensuite facilities.

DAY 7 CAPE YORK – THURSDAY ISLAND - CAIRNS (B)

An early morning departure as we cruise through island studded straits to explore our northern community, Thursday Island. Here you will be taken on a informative guided bus tour of the island and its picturesque Harbour, once home to the romantic pearl lugger fleet. Then board your plane at Horn Island for a scenic flight back to Cairns. ETA to Cairns, approx 5.30pm.

On the Accommodated Tour you have 5 nights accommodation with an ensuite bathroom and 1 nights of basic twin share accommodation with shared bathroom facilities with all linen supplied.

All meals are prepared by our staff in an outdoor atmosphere and 2 restaurant dinners are included. Our continental breakfast consists of toast, cereal, fruit, tea and coffee. For lunch we provide a picnic lunch which consists of a variety of salads, lunch meats, cheese and sandwiches. A light snack and a 2 course dinner are provided at night time with a main course, dessert, tea or coffee. Our staff will prepare and cook the meals for you and we ask as a courtesy that after meals you will wash your own plate, cup and utensils.

The tour covers just about everything you might want to know about the Western Cape Region and its history plus a comprehensive insight into the whole process of mining and a chance to see the enormous mining equipment, trucks, locomotives and other plant used on the 2,590 square Km. Site. The tour takes approximately 2.5 hours and costs $40.00 pp
