If you are looking for a scuba dive course you can do whilst staying in Port Douglas, then this is it. The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world's most popular entry level diving certification. It qualifies you to dive independently to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet). PADI is the world's largest diving training agency, and your Open Water certification will be recognised throughout the world.

A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking, with the balance payable on the first day of the course. Once receive your booking request and deposit and have confirmed the availability, your booking confirmation will be emailed to you shortly after (between 8am-6pm). We don't suggest waiting till you get here to book this dive course as you may not be able to enrol at short notice. Government reef tax, fuel levy & port charges are included in the prices in the rates table below.
More Information: The Dive Centre is located in the heart of Port Douglas. As a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) training and development centre we are extremely proud of our Scuba Diving teachings standards in safety and professionalism. The Open Water Dives take place just North of Port Douglas in the home of the Agincourt Ribbon Reef. This outstanding unspoilt area of the very outer edge of the Barrier Reef is truly beautiful, with incredible coral, and unbelievable fish diversity as far as the eyes can see though the crystal clear waters.
During your course you will experience some of the Great Barrier Reefs best dive sites including Agincourt Reef, St Crispin Reef, Opal Reef and Tongue Reef. The PADI International Open Water Scuba Diving Certification is the most widely recognised and respected diving qualification in the world. With completion of your course you will have the freedom to dive anywhere in the world. What ever your Diving needs it is all available in one place here at Parrotfish.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED AND WHEN DO I START? The PADI Open Water Diver Course is a 5 day course. The course beings each week on a Monday 9am here at the Parrotfish Dive Resort, and finishes on the Friday at around 5.30pm. With larger private groups (4 or more) we are able to start the course on any day suitable for you.
- Day 1: Course introduction and collection of crew pack. Self paced learning. (Crew pack may be collected earlier and knowledge reviews competed prior to course start date.)
- Day 2: Knowledge development, quizzes, reviews and final exam 9.00am-5.00pm
- Day 3: Confined Water Training in the swimming pool 9.00am-4.30pm
- Day 4: Open Water Dives One, Two and Three 8.00am – 4.30pm
- Day 5: Open Water Dive Four 8.00am – 4.30pm* * Two extra dives available at an extra cost of $25 per dive

Extras: An additional $10 per person per day EMC, Port & Admin Charges when on the water, 2 Passport photos & Dive Medical will also be required
Booking Policy
A Dive Medical A$55.00 - payable direct to the doctor on Day 1 of the dive course.
Important Information
Some medical conditions will prevent you from diving. Some of the more common conditions are Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy and heart or lung conditions. Pregnancy is also a contraindication to diving. Some other medical conditions may also be a problem. If you are unsure about any specific condition please contact us.
The minimum age to participate in this course is 12. There is no maximum age.
It is a course requirement that you be able to swim 200 metres and tread water/float for 10 minutes.
Flying After Diving: We recommend that you do not fly for at least 24 hours after diving. This means that the earliest you should fly is 12 pm (midday) on the day after your dive course ends.
