Located at Cow Bay in the Daintree National Park, these ten motel units provide excellent value for money accommodation in the Daintree. Cow Bay boasts some fine Restaurants and Cafes all within easy walking distance from the Retreat and some will even cook your catch for your dinner.
The pristine Cow Bay beach, only 5 minutes by car, a delightful bike ride of 15 minutes or a leisurely stroll of 30 minutes is typical of Far North Queensland, where the RAINFOREST meets the REEF. Get away from the crowded beaches of the south, stretch out on the golden sands to add to your tan or sit back and enjoy the scenery under a shady tree only metres from the water.
This retreat is located on 5 acres of land, part is native rainforest and part has been planted with award winning gardens for our guests to wander through.There is also a diverse range of wildlife including at least 8 known species of frogs (excluding cane toads) lizards, snakes, tree kangaroos, flying foxes etc etc.
For the guests that do not wish to self cater OR to have a truly relaxing holiday, the Retreat has a small private restaurant, called "Treefrogs", where you can enjoy breakfast and evening meals (they specialise in fresh locally caught seafood) served in a delightful dining area overlooking Frog Pond and tropical gardens. The retreat is not open to the general public so we are able to guarantee Treefrogs is a quiet, enjoyable dining experience. The retreat is a family run property and they pride themselves on providing delightful rooms with top quality inclusions and spotlessly clean facilities.
The Retreat is a true eco-run establishment (many say they are, but in reality this is not so). There is no power in this area and they generate their own power mainly from a huge solar system. The Daintree Rainforest Retreat is the ONLY resort to have won sustainability awards! We provide most of the luxuries that people are used to having but produce a minimum of green-house gases. Most of the large resorts in this area run huge noisy generators that pollute the environment.
