On this 4 Day Learn to Scuba Dive Course, you cover all the skills of learning to scuba dive to a level whereby you are an open water PADI licensed scuba diver. This option does not allow for the opportunity to overnight on the reef. On completion of your 4 certification dives you will get the opportunity to do one 'fun dive' (time permitting). If you wish to do more dives immediately after your course and experience the thrill of a night dive, choose the 5 day course option.

Courses Commence: Monday through to Saturday Places do book out quickly so advance bookings are highly recommended. Starts at 9am on day 1 and 2, and 7.45am on day 3 and 4. Return time each day is approximately 4.30pm.

How to book:  You can book online via the rates table's "Add to Itinerary" button. Click on it and follow the prompts to make a booking 24 hours a day.

A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking, with the balance due, on the first day of the course.  Government reef tax, fuel levy & port charges of $40 per person are included in the prices in the rates table below. 2x Passport Photos can be purchased for $5 if you don't bring your own.

Pre-requisites: Pre-requisite for this course is the ability to swim at least 200 metres unaided and to be able to tread water for ten minutes. This is tested in the training pool before going to sea. You will also require a current Dive Medical. A Dive Medical can be arranged for you, if required, on the first day of the course for $60.00.

Basic Itinerary of this 4 DAY LEARN TO DIVE COURSE

Day one and two of the dive course are conducted at a specialist Diver Training Facility in Cairns from 9.00am - 4.30pm each day. Day three and four are conducted at the Great Barrier Reef where you will be taught in groups of no more than four students per instructor. The dive couse includes daily hotel pick up and drop off from Cairns city hotels and lunch on day 3 and 4 at the reef. The practical component of your course is completed during the two day trips from 8.30am - 4.30pm each day.

Important Information
Some medical conditions will prevent you from diving. Some of the more common conditions are Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy and heart or lung conditions. Pregnancy is also a contraindication to diving. Some other medical conditions may also be a problem. If you are unsure about any specific condition please contact us.
The minimum age to participate in this course is 12. There is no maximum age. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or adult over the age of 18 years.

A Dive Medical can be arranged for you, on the first day of the course or you can do it yourself at the Cairns 24 Hour medical Centre (corner of Grafton and Florence Streets) A copy of the dive medical questions are attached to this email.

Flying After Diving: We recommend that you do not fly for at least 24 hours after diving. This means that the earliest you should fly is 12 pm (midday) on the day after your dive course ends.

Booking Policy

Please note there are regulations about flying or going to altitude after diving.

* Currently the rules state that for a single no decompression dive, you should not fly/go to altitude for at least 12 hours.
* For multiple dives you should not fly/go to altitude for at least 18 hours.
* We recommend waiting a minimum 24 hours whenever possible. These are guidelines only, there is no guarantee that these recommendations will prevent decompression sickness. Currently there are no guidelines regarding diving after flying.
* Altitude is 300m/1000ft above sea level.
* This includes going to the Atherton Tablelands, so be careful when you are booking tours to follow your dive course/trip.

Under normal circumstances, you should be out of the water on your last dive at 12pm (midday), this should help with organising any travel plans you have after your dive trip with us.
