If you want to see the Torres Strait Islands and the tip of Cape York in one of the more comfortable camping safaris there are, then this could be the tour for you. You'll fly from Cairns to Horn Island then transfer via Thursday Island on the inter Island ferry service back to the mainland and travel south via 4WD vehicle. A great tour for those a bit short on time but wishing to see the whole length of the Cape. With only four departures available this year, it is a good idea to book early! Camping allows you to stay at some of the most scenic places in Cape York and with easy to erect tents and all your linen and pillows supplied, you'll be as comfortable as you can be.

How to Book: A $400 per person deposit payment is required at the time of booking and the remaining balance is due at least two months prior to departure. This trip is very popular and should be booked as far in advance as is possible. Bookings made within two months of the travel date must be paid in full within 72 hours.

Min/ Max Numbers for this tour: The minimum number of people per trip required for the trip to run is 4. The maximum number of passengers per vehicle is 15. When there is more than 10 passengers, a host/ cook will accompany the driver. (Of course you can book with as few as one person - you will be matched up with other people)

More Information:

The camping is all in easy to erect tents and each tent comes with two single extra large raised camp beds and all linen. The camp sites are hand picked for their idealic location and scenery. Bathrooms are located within easy reach of the camp ground.

Because you are flying one way, there is adequate time to explore and discover the highlights of Cape York and the 7 day tour also features two ferry rides from Horn to Thursday Island, then to the mainland!

Destinations Visited: Horn and Thursday Island, Hann River, Archer River, Loyalty Beach, The Tip, Jardine River, Twin Falls, Elliot Falls, Heathland Reserve, Weipa, Musgrave Station, Lakefield National Park, Cooktown, Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation.

Tour Itinerary:

All fares include meals as per itinerary code: (B) Breakfast, (L) Lunch and (D) Dinner. All camping costs and entrance fees as per itinerary.

Day 1 (LD)

From Cairns fly to Horn Island with Qantas. Gain an insight into island life and history before taking the inter-island ferry via Thursday Island to the mainland. Ending the day at our beach front camp at Loyalty Beach.

Day 2 (BLD)

Celebrate as you stand on the Northern Tip of Cape York, passing through dense rainforest and strolling along deserted beaches. The afternoon will see us heading to Twin Falls our camp for the night.

Day 3 (BLD)

Travelling through the Heathlands reserve you’ll start to get a feel for the remoteness of the region as we head towards the mining town of Weipa.

Day 4 (BLD)

Before leaving Weipa you will have the option of doing a mine tour (optional) before traveling onto Musgrave Station our camp for the night.

Day 5 (BLD)

Today we will travel further south along the Development road before heading into Lakefield N.P to explore its vast systems of rivers, billabongs and wildlife. Tonight we will camp in the heart of the park.

Day 6 (BL)

On our way to Historic Cooktown we’ll stop at Old Laura Homestead. A couple of river crossings will remind you that you are truly in a wilderness area especially early in the season. Spend the afternoon exploring Cooktown before enjoying our last night together at Cooktown RSL for dinner.

Day 7 (BL)

If track conditions permit we willl venture over the notorious Bloomfield track and onto the Daintree before returning to Cairns in the late afternoon.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations received more than 60 days prior to departure are subject to a $400 per person fee.
Cancellations between 60 and 30 days are subject to a 75% refund.
Cancellations between 30 and 21 days are subject to a 50% refund.
Cancellations 21 days or less are subject to no refund whatsoever.
